The village stretches from Storfjorden up to Overøye and Seljebotn in one valley, and up towards Ekrelia and Stavsengfjellet

On Overøye is the Arena Overøye ski center with ski lifts and downhill runs, and from here there are also kilometers of beautifully groomed cross-country trails in the winter season. The area is popular for private holiday homes.

At Stavsengfjellet you will find Fjellbakken, with its 5 jumping slopes, from the largest with K-point at 70 meters and down to slopes suitable for the smallest children.

In the mighty mountains there are marked hiking trails criss-crossing, and along the rivers you will find beautiful gardens and fields. Stordalselva is a popular salmon river. Large grazing areas and a mild and warm climate mean that agriculture is an important means of livelihood.

Otherwise, Stordal is known as the "furniture district". Furniture production is still important, but there has also been a lot of investment in new industries in recent years.

The Rose Church with its incomparable interior decorations, Løsetstova built in the old style from the 18th century and the old mountain farm Ytste Skotet are some of the attractions the village has to offer.
